Most of the new legislative requirements mandate that a diked and impervious lined area around the tanks must contain up to 110 % of the largest tank capacity. However, the occurrences of catastrophic failures with the release of 100% storage capacity are extremely rare. The new approach will reduce the secondary containment requirements.
